The OS present ART by Yasmina Reza

30th July @ 7:30 pm - 3rd August @ 10:15 pm

£13.50 – £21.50

For their 171st season in Canterbury, the world’s longest-running dramatic group (the Old Stagers) proudly present Yasmina Reza’s outstanding comedy, “Art”, in a translation by Christopher Hampton.

Marc feels shocked, upset and betrayed when he discovers that his good friend, Serge, has spent an absurd amount of money buying a large painting that is completely white. Caught in the crossfire, their friend Yvan (already on edge ahead of his impending marriage) tries to restore calm and order as the longstanding friendship between the three is severely put to the test.

“Art” is a brilliantly observed and hilarious comedy about art and the nature and fragility of friendship. It was the winner of best new comedy at the Olivier Awards and the Evening Standard Awards and best play at the Tony Awards and the Molière Awards.  It is considered a modern classic.

The show runs at the Malthouse Theatre from Tuesday 31st July until Saturday 3rd August, at the following times:

Tuesday 30th July – 7.30pm

Wednesday 31st July – 2.45pm (matinee)

Thursday 1st August – 7.30pm

Friday 2nd August – 7.30pm (play is followed by the traditional OS Epilogue – a 40 minute musical comedy revue)

Saturday 3rd August – 7.30pm (play followed by the Epilogue)

This amateur production of “Art” is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd, on behalf of Samuel French Ltd. www.concordtheatricals.co.uk
