The 10 best Kent Christmas markets to enjoy in the 2023 festive season

Christmas is fast approaching and many are starting to get into the festive spirit. High streets are preparing to turn on their stunning lights, shops are stocking all those Christmas essentials and the county, as a whole, is feeling a little more jolly.

From carol singing to light switch-on events and local craft stalls, families will be able to enjoy a variety of Christmas markets across the county this year. These include some in picturesque locations such Tonbridge Castle and Rochester Castle Gardens.

So, if you’re looking for a way to truly get into the festive spirit, KentLive has rounded up some of Kent’s best Christmas markets. From Folkestone to Herne Bay, here’s everything you need to know.

The African and Caribbean Festive Market, Rochester

Medway African and Caribbean Association (MACA) is organising the African and Caribbean festival market at the Corn Exchange in Rochester on Sunday, November 26. There will be handcrafted items, art, fashion, authentic food and more. It will take place from 10am to 4pm. More information can be found on the MACA Facebook page.

Folkestone Harbour Arm Festive Market

It will take place at Folkestone Harbour Marketplace every weekend from this Friday (November 17) until Christmas Eve. It will be open from Saturday and Sunday 11am-6pm. There are also two late-night shopping evenings on Friday, November 24 and Friday, December 15 from 4pm to 8pm. Find out more, here.

Tenterden Christmas Market

You will have to wait until Friday, November 24 for the Christmas market to return to the High Street and it will only last for three days. It is set to take place between 12pm and 8pm on the Friday, 9pm to 7pm on the Saturday (November 25) and on the Sunday (November 26) from 10am to 5pm. More here.

Rochester Christmas Market

This market is set in the picturesque Rochester Castle Gardens and it will be held over three consecutive weekends from Saturday, November 25 to Sunday, December 10. With food and drinks stalls, it’s the ideal location to purchase that special gift for your loved ones. More here.

Faversham Christmas Market

This is a wonderful opportunity for those who want to shop local and pick up any last-minute gifts. The market will take place in the high street, with a wide selection of stallholders. The market will be in place on Saturday, December 9 and Sunday, December 10 from 9am to 3pm. More information here.

Pierremont Hall Christmas Market, Broadstairs

The event will feature local makers, crafters, designers, artists, food producers and more. It will take place from 12pm until 7pm on Saturday, November 25 at Pierremont Hall, Pierremont Park. The Christmas lights will be turned on at 5pm. More here.

Christmas in Canterbury

Christmas Artisan Market at Tonbridge Castle

Christmas is set to arrive at Tonbridge Castle this Sunday (November 19). There will be a variety of local traders and market stalls in this stunning location. It will take place from 10am to 4pm and is free to attend. More here.

Dover’s winter light up

On December 2 and 3, there will be a range of stalls on Dover Market Squarefor visitors to get their Christmas gifts ans enjoy food and drinks. More here.

Christmas at Whitstable Castle

There will be stalls outside and inside the castle, selling Christmas gits, holly wreaths and more. This will take place on Saturday, December 2 and Sunday, December 3 from 10am until 4pm. More information can be found here.
